Fighting Hunger in Montgomery County
In a remarkable display of generosity and community spirit, students at The John Cooper Middle School have set a new benchmark by donating 1,955 pounds of food to The Montgomery County Food Bank, surpassing last year's contribution of 1,844 pounds.
Elisa Inman, Head of Middle School at The John Cooper School, expressed the school's commitment, saying, "We are honored to partner with The Montgomery County Food Bank and support their mission to fight food insecurity in our community. Service is a core tenet of our school's mission, and we are dedicated to empowering our students as responsible citizens and future leaders."
The CEO of The Montgomery County Food Bank highlights the pressing issue of food insecurity in our prosperous county, where, shockingly, many families still struggle to put food on the table. This challenge forces thousands of vulnerable individuals, including seniors, children, and adults, to choose between hunger and low-nutrition options for survival.
As part of a school-wide service project, Middle School students undertook the challenge of gathering non-perishable food items, instilling values of selflessness and community service.
