John Cooper Day 2024
A day of care and celebration!
March 28th marked The John Cooper School’s annual John Cooper Day to celebrate the life and accomplishments of Mr. John Cooper. Mr. Cooper was the first voluntary advisor of the Woodridge School, which became a nucleus for The John Cooper School. Mr. Cooper’s knowledge of educational ordeals, fundraising, and architecture contributed to the success and formation of The John Cooper School today.
Lower School students had the opportunity to participate in various service projects happening around campus. 1st graders showcased their appreciation to the custodians and food service staff on campus by combining all their hand-drawn watercolor and crayon paintings on a poster. Meanwhile, third graders created fun and uplifting labels to place on peanut butter jars to donate to Interfaith, a non-profit dedicated to providing a variety of services and programs for our community here in the Woodlands. Fourth grade students held a drive for the Abandoned Animal Rescue and showered their animals with donations of food, litter, toys, and paper products.
Near the Art Barn, new garden beds were built thanks to the partnership of the National Art Honor Society, One Trick Peony the Woodlands, Vego Garden, and our outstanding maintenance and facilities team. The placemaking area is intended to help students draw inspiration to evoke curiosity, critical for nurturing creativity and learning.
An all-time favorite Cooper tradition, the Kinder-Senior procession, took place in the Glenn Performing Arts Center. Kindergarteners and their Senior buddies walked down the stage proudly to signify the evolution of their Cooper experience – developing from curiosity to wisdom. One student is starting a new beginning with the wisdom they have gained while the other is just starting their intellectual and curiosity journey. Although Mr. Cooper passed away in 1993, he achieved his dream of becoming an architect for young minds and his legacy will continue to live on here at The John Cooper School.

The John Cooper School is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory day school.
